Making a musical 17: Accidents and writing a play

My apologies for not updating this blog on Tuesday (my usual day for updating the musical blog), but I wanted to write about other nonsense, leaving this one till later.

So, Monday at musical theatre was... interesting to say the least. We learnt the rest of the Hairspray routine, which took up over an hour of the class, and it was AWESOME.
So much fun. There was a slight problem however...

I had a really sore shoulder. Like you know when you sleep funny, and then all day it feels like it needs to click, but doesn't? It was just like that.
So, as we were all getting into our positions at the start of the class, I was stretching my arm - like gently swinging it around.
Next thing I knew, my hand hit something! I turned to see this poor girl holding her face!!!
Her eye was totally red and I was devastated. I couldn't believe I just whacked someone in the eye! How embarrassing. lol... and poor her too, of course.
I apologised so much; but for the rest of the class, I couldn't look at her. And she was standing right next to me. I was so scared of hitting her again :S

If that wasn't enough, about 10 minutes later, we had a jump choreographed into the dance, where we jump and reach for the ceiling. Little did I know there were stage lights right above me. I jumped, and hit my hand really hard into the metal casing of this stage light; and the entire light rig shook. Imagine if it had fell.
I took about 10 steps away from everyone and carried on... lol.
That was a somewhat eventful class.

But, moving on. I am about to start the stage play for the musical, and it's weird, because I've never written for the stage before. The layout and style is completely different to a film script; but it's all pretty exciting.
I've got the whole story line more or less figured out; and the characters too. I honestly can't wait to get this draft done. The thing that will take the longest time is the music - but I'm going to write all they lyrics first, and then work on making catchy music later.

Oooooooh the excitement :D
